Rochester, N.Y. - For the eighth year in a row, Roberts Wesleyan’s men’s and women’s cross country are East Coast Conference Champions. Both teams earned their titles by coming in first place at the ECC Championship meet on Saturday morning at Roberts Wesleyan’s Matt St. James Cross Country Trails.
In the men’s race, the first five runners across the finish line were all from Roberts Wesleyan, giving the Redhawks the lowest possible team point total of 15. Blake Kasper led the way for Roberts, crossing the finish line first in the 8K in a time of 26:07.2 to win the league’s Runner of the Year honor.
The other Roberts runner that came in right after Kasper to earn All-Conference First Team honors were Owen White, Jackson Doran, Zachary Hall, and Ryan Karker.
The women's race was much of the same with seven of the 14 All-Conference spots going to Roberts Wesleyan. Acacia Barber, Rachel Horner-Richardson, Jennifer Zambuto, and Kylee Odell finished third through sixth to all earn First Team honors, while Maya Krishnan, Zoe Perkins, and Lydia Roselund added Second Team accolades.
Kassandra Nolet from Daemen was first across the line in the women’s race. Her time of 18:42.3 earned her the ECC Runner of the Year award.
Horner-Richardson’s fourth place finish in a time of 19:10.2 was good for the ECC Rookie of the Year award. Daemen’s Aidan Kincaid was the Rookie of the Year on the men's side. He finished in 14th place in a time of 27:50.5.
Roberts Wesleyan's head coach Andrew Dorr was named the Men's and Women's ECC Coach of the Year after leading the Redhawks to a first-place finish in each race. This is the ninth consecutive year he has won the honor for both genders and the 10th straight year in the women's race.
