Men's Results | Women's Results

Rochester, N.Y. - Roberts Wesleyan’s men’s and women’s cross country teams won both East Coast Conference Championships on Saturday morning.

Running on their home course, both Redhawks teams ran their streak of consecutive ECC titles to seven. The men’s squad won in dominating fashion, while the women’s team held off a challenge from runner-up, Daemen.

On the men’s side, eight of the first nine and 10 of the first 14 runners across the line were Redhawks. This led to Roberts Wesleyan scoring 17 points, nearly 60 better than the runner-up, St. Thomas Aquinas. James Betts led the way with a first place finish on the 8K course in a time 25:47.3 to earn the ECC Runner of the Year honor.

Nine other Redhawks earned All-Conference honors. Shane Pease, Lee Sortore, Joshua Johnson, Owen White, and Blake Kasper all made the First Team, while Maxin McKenzie, Jackson Doran, Ryan Karker, and Connor Demo all earned Second Team nods.

In addition, White made it a clean sweep of the men's awards for the Redhawks after he was named the ECC Rookie of the Year. White earned the honor as the first freshman across the line with a sixth place finish in a time of 26:24.6.

The women's race was much closer but still had the same result with Roberts Wesleyan coming out on top by a margin of 29-44 over Daemen. Six Redhawks women finished in the top-14 to earn All-Conference honors including Bailey Gostomski who won the ECC Runner of the Year award with an 18:07.3 finish on the 5K course.

Gostomski was joined by her sister Abigail, and Kylee Odell as All-Conference First Team honorees with top-seven finishes. Acacia Barber, Jennifer Zambuto, and Maya Krishnan also helped lead the Redhawks to a title with Second Team All-Conference finishes.

Molloy's Kaitlyn Mohr was the Rookie of the Year on the women's side. She finished in fifth place in a time of 18:45.0.

Roberts Wesleyan's head coach Andrew Dorr was named the Men's and Women's ECC Coach of the Year after leading the Redhawks to a first-place finish in each race. This is the eighth consecutive year he has won the honor for both genders and the ninth straight year in the women's race.
