Old Westbury, N.Y. - For the sixth staight season, Roberts Wesleyan's men's and women's cross country teams are East Coast Conference Champions. Both Redhawks teams ran away from the field in dominating performances during the league's championship, held on Saturday morning on the campus of New York Tech.

Christopher Sims led nine Roberts runners that finished in the top 12, crossing the line in a time of 26:20.80 to finish first and win the ECC Runner of the Year honor. The other eight (Josiah Ottolini, Justin Shafer, Nathan Cannon, Shane Pease, James Betts, Bryan Forino, Joshua Johnson, and Connor Demo) earned All-Conference honors and helped the Redhawks compile 19 points as a team, 54 points ahead of the runner-up, Molloy.

In addition, Roberts' Timothy Kennel made it a clean sweep of the men's awards for the Redhawks after he was named the ECC Rookie of the Year. Kennel earned the honor as the first freshman across the line with an 18th place finish in a time of 28:17.56.

Just as in the men's, the women's race was dominated by Roberts Wesleyan. Eight Redhawks women finished in the top-12 including Brittany Shumway who won the ECC Runner of the Year award. Shumway topped St. Thomas Aquinas' Abagaile Kimbrell by just 0.25 seconds (19:28.85 - 19:29.10) to earn the honor.

After Shumway, Michaela Bierly, Ashley Watson, Bailey Gostomski, Abagail Gostomski, Moriah Martone, Addison Sgroi, and Tiffany Adames each earned a spot on the All-Conference list for Roberts Wesleyan.

Molloy's Kristi Ackerina was the Rookie of the Year on the women's side. She finished in 24th place in a time of 21:58.99.

Roberts Wesleyan's head coach Andrew Dorr, was named the Men's and Women's ECC Coach of the Year after leading the Redhawks to a first-place finish in each race. This is the seventh consecutive year he has won the honor for both genders and the eighth straight year in the women's race.
