Bracket Set for ECC Volleyball Championship

Bracket Set for ECC Volleyball Championship

West Babylon, N.Y. – The bracket for the East Coast Conference Volleyball Championship is set with four teams heading to Lumsden Gymnasium on Daemen University’s campus in Amherst, N.Y. on November 11 and 12.

Daemen (18-5, 10-0 ECC) will host the tournament for the second straight season after winning the ECC Regular Season Championship with an undefeated run through conference play. The Wildcats, who are also the defending ECC Champions, now hold a 25-match winning streak against conference foes dating back to the beginning of last season.

Back in the tournament for a third straight year, No. 4 Mercy (13-6, 6-4 ECC) will be Daemen’s semifinal opponent. The Mavericks will look to break a 21-year drought without a conference title, having last lifted the trophy in 2001.

Daemen swept the season series between the two schools, but Mercy gave the Wildcats their biggest tests of the year. The Mavericks took one set in the first matchup and were the only team to take Daemen to a fifth set in their second meeting just this past weekend.

The other semifinal will see No. 3 Molloy (15-10, 6-4 ECC) take on No. 2 Queens (12-12, 6-4 ECC). Queens returns to the ECC Championship for the first time since 2008. The Knights have won the tournament once previously, doing so in the 2003 season.

Molloy is back in the bracket for a conference-high fifth straight season. The Lions are in search of their third title in five seasons after winning in 2017 and 2019.

The two schools split their regular season matchup with each winning on their home court. Queens completed a 3-0 sweep on October 4, while Molloy earned the five set victory on November 1.

The tournament will start on Friday, November 11 with the Mercy vs. Daemen matchup at 5:00 p.m. Molloy vs. Queens will follow at 7:30 p.m. The winners of the semifinal matchups will move on to the final on Saturday, November 12 at 5:00 p.m.

Tickets for each game of the championship can be purchased in advance at www.eccsports.org/tickets. Ticket prices will be $8 for general admission and $4 for senior citizens, students, and children ages 2-5. Children under two will be admitted for free. In celebration of Veterans Day on Friday, all veterans will be able to attend both days of the tournament for free. A ticket must still be secured through the ECC ticket website and a valid military ID must be shown to gain free entry.

In addition, cash will not be accepted so those wishing to purchase tickets at the venue must still use the ECC ticket website to purchase them (QR code to scan with a smartphone will be available at the gate).
