West Haven, Conn. – The 2018 volleyball season came to an end with a 3-0 loss to #5 Holy Family University in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA East Regional Tournament. The Lions finished with an overall record of 20-9 and made the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season.

How it Happened
- Holy Family took an early advantage, going in front by as much as 13-4.
- Molloy responded by taking 12 of the next 18 points to come within three, 19-16.
- The effort would not be enough, however, as the Tigers closed out the set by taking six of the next seven points to end the set.
- A four-point run in the second set gave the maroon and white a 9-7 lead.
- A run from Holy Family put the visiting team on the scoreboard in front, 20-16.
- After taking advantage of Tiger errors, a kill from sophomore Graciela Cruz brought the Lions within one, 21-20.
- Molloy tied the contest, 22-22, but Holy Family scored the final three points of the set to take a 2-0 lead.
- Needing a win to stay in the contest, the Lions opened the third set to a 5-1 lead. The Tigers responded with four-straight points to knot the score.
- Three-straight points later in the set, capped off by a kill from redshirt junior Carly Banks put Molloy in front, 14-11.
- The Lions led, 22-20 late in the third set, but the Tigers ended the set and the match with a five-point run to advance.
Top Performances
- Sophomore Kacey Affrunti led the maroon and white with nine kills.
- Junior Jessica Fischetti tallied 22 digs while junior Sophia Smith had 23 assists.
- Junior Hailey Wehr put up three blocks.
