Washington, D.C. - The University of the
District of Columbia women’s volleyball team held its second
annual Youth Day event on Sunday, October 21st before squaring off
against non-conference foe, Virginia Union.
The day began at 11:30 am with a one-hour skills clinic lead by
Firebirds coach Sheila Weaver. Youth from all over the Washington,
DC area participated in the clinic members of the team helped with
the skill stations.
Following the clinic, the kids got the opportunity to have a
meet-and-greet with the team, snap photos and get autographs.
Several athletes from the Student-Athlete Advisory Council also
helped run the event.
Many clinic participants stayed for the match, which began at 2:00
p.m. The Firebirds went on to defeat the Panthers, 3-1 before
an enthusiastic crowd at UDC Gym.
