LEXINGTON, KY. – Women’s volleyball coach Shellane Ogoshi will be featured in the upcoming April/May edition of Coaching Volleyball magazine part as one of the Thirty Under 30 Recipients.

The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced the awards, recognizing those volleyball coaches across the country who were younger than 30 years old in 2010. The award was created in 2009 to honor up-and-coming coaching talent at all levels of the sports.

Coach Ogoshi is one of three NCAA Division II coaches recognized, among 18 head coaches and 12 assistants across the country named on the list. This past season of 2010, Ogoshi led the Pioneers to a 20-13 record, leading to a NCAA berth. In the two seasons at the helm for the Pioneers, Ogoshi has complied a record of 34-27 while earning ECC Co-Coach of the Year during her first season.

After a stellar career at Hofstra, the Pride retired Ogoshi’s jersey in 2008. During her time at Hofstra, she played in 118 matches during her career and tallied 4,597 assists and 1,660 digs. She was a two-time Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Setter of the Year (2005 and 2006) and also earned 2005 CAA Player of the Year accolades. The 2004 CAA Rookie of the Year and a CAA All-Rookie team selection, Ogoshi went on to earn All-CAA first team honors in each of her next three seasons. In addition, she was an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Honorable Mention All-Region pick as a sophomore and was the CAA Championship Most Outstanding Player in 2006.
