Skillman, N.J. – ECC Women’s Tennis
Player of the Year, Nelly Ciolkowski from NYIT, has been named an
All-American by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
Ciolkowski, a graduate student from Neuilly-Plaisance, France, was
a standout in her only season on the NYIT campus. In the fall, she
helped the Bears to their first ever ECC title and followed that up
by leading the squad to the Round of 16 in the NCAA Tournament for
the first time in program history in the spring.
On the year, Ciolkowski finished with a remarkable 33-1 record in
singles with her only loss coming to Annie Hwang of BYU-Hawaii, a
fellow All-American, at the USTA/ITA Nationals.
To earn All-American recognition from the ITA, a student-athlete
needs to be ranked in the Top 20 of the National singles rankings.
Ciolkowski wrapped up the season ranked No. 4 in Division II in
singles to earn the All-American status.
