Mercy Earns Fifth Straight NCAA Championship Appearance

Indianapolis – Mercy women’s soccer is one of 56 teams that will compete for a National Championship, the NCAA announced on Monday evening.

Mercy (13-2-2) earned their spot by claiming the East Coast Conference Women’s Soccer Championship and the accompanying automatic berth. This is the seventh appearance in program history and fifth straight.

The Mavericks earned the No. 4 seed in the East Region portion of the bracket and will take on No. 5 Adelphi (12-5-2) of the NE10. The Panthers are making their 16th appearance in the bracket but the first since 2017.

Adelphi has dominated the all-time series between the former conference foes, with an 11-2-1 record. Mercy has claimed more success as of late, with an unbeaten record over the last three matches, including a 1-0 win earlier this season on September 6.

The Mercy vs. Adelphi matchup will take place at the Christian Plumeri Sports Complex in Albany, N.Y. with the victor advancing to take on the winner of No. 1 Saint Rose vs. No. 8 Jefferson.

The other half of the East Region bracket will be hosted by No. 2 Franklin Pierce (14-3-2). The Ravens will take on No. 7 Southern New Hampshire (6-5-5), while the other matchup will see No. 3 Bridgeport (13-3-5) take on No. 6 Saint Anslem (10-7-1).

The first round starts on Friday, November 11. Second round action follows on Sunday, November 13.
