ECC Women's Soccer Championship Kicks Off Wednesday

ECC Women's Soccer Championship Kicks Off Wednesday

West Babylon, N.Y. – The bracket for the East Coast Conference Women's Soccer Championships is set with a repeat of the same four teams and the same two semifinal matchups from the 2021 season.

Mercy (12-2-1, 7-0-1 ECC) is the No. 1 seed after clinching its third ECC Regular Season Championship in the past six seasons. The Mavericks, who are making a conference-best ninth-straight tournament appearance, have previously won ECC postseason titles in 2014 and 2017.

No. 4 Daemen (5-9-2, 5-3-0 ECC) will be Mercy’s semifinal opponent. After beginning the season with an 0-8-1 record, the Wildcats rallied with a 5-1-1 record over their final seven games to earn a second straight tournament appearance and third overall in program history.

Mercy won the regular season matchup between the two schools by a 2-0 margin back on September 10. The two teams also met in the semifinals of last year’s tournament with the Mavericks also coming away with a 2-0 win.

Molloy (11-4-2, 7-1-0 ECC), the two-time defending ECC Champions, is the No. 2 seed. The Lions will match up with No. 3 Roberts Wesleyan (11-3-1, 5-2-1 ECC), who is back in the bracket for the second straight season and the fourth time in program history.

The regular season matchup between the two schools went to Molloy by a score of 2-1. The Lions topped the Redhawks 5-0 in last year’s semifinal on the way to their second straight ECC title.

The semifinals of the tournament will be hosted by the top two seeds and the final will be hosted by the highest remaining seed. Tournament action begins with the semifinals on Wednesday, November 2, and will conclude with the final on Saturday, November 5.

Tickets for each game of the championship can be purchased in advance at www.eccsports.org/tickets. Ticket prices will be $8 for general admission and $4 for senior citizens, students, and children ages 2-5. Children under two will be admitted for free.

General admission ticket prices will increase to $10 beginning at midnight on the day of the game. In addition, cash will not be accepted so walkup tickets at the venue still must be purchased through the ECC website (QR code will be available at the gate).

For those not in attendance, all three matches of the championship will be broadcast on the ECC Network. Viewers can tune in at www.eccsportsnetwork.com or by downloading the ECC Network app. To download the app, search "ECC Network" on Apple or Android mobile devices or on Amazon Fire, Android TV, Apple TV, and Roku streaming devices.
