West Babylon, N.Y. – After the final day of the regular season, the bracket for the East Coast Conference Women's Soccer Championships is set.
Bridgeport (9-7-2, 6-1-1 ECC) is the tournament's top-seed after the Purple Knights claimed their ninth Regular Season Championship in the past 14 years. The defending ECC and NCAA Division II National Champions are also making their 16th straight conference tournament appearance. Bridgeport has won the championship in five of their previous appearances (2009, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2018).
The Purple Knights' semifinal opponent will be No. 4 Molloy. The Lions, who have never won an ECC title, are back in the bracket for the second time in three seasons after finishing with a 13-4-1(5-3-0 ECC) record.
Bridgeport took a narrow 1-0 victory in the schools' regular season matchup on November 2.
Mercy is the No. 2 seed and will host the other semifinal. The Mavericks (13-2-2, 5-1-2 ECC), ranked No. 24 in the latest United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25 poll, are back in the bracket for a seventh straight season. Mercy is in search of the program's third ECC Championship after winning in 2014 and 2017.
New York Tech claimed the No. 3 seed and the program's first-ever ECC Championship berth with a record of 6-6-3 (5-1-2 ECC).
Mercy and Tech tied in their regular season meeting by a tally of 1-1 on October 19.
The semifinals of the tournament will be hosted by the top two seeds and the final will be hosted by the highest remaining seed. Tournament action begins on Thursday, November 14 and will conclude with the championship match on Sunday, November 17. All three matches of the championship will be broadcast on the ECC Network.
