Bridgeport, Conn. - Nine East Coast Conference
women’s soccer players were named to the Daktronics All East
Region First and Second Teams, released on November 16.
East Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year, Ivana Babic
(Sr., F, C.W. Post), and ECC Defensive Player of the Year, Anna
Svensson (Sr., D, C.W. Post) were named to the First Team. Joining
them on the First Team was Bridgeport senior forward, Linda
Velaj.
Members on the Second Team from ECC institutions include ECC
Rookie of the Year, Alexa Niciforo (Fr.,F, C.W. Post), Cassandra
Cronin (Sr., MF, Dowling), Danielle DeLuca (Sr., MF, C.W. Post),
Katie Stanley (Jr., MF, Bridgeport), Elin Svavarsdottir (Sr., D,
Bridgeport), and ECC Goalkeeper of the Year, Allie Weiser (Jr., GK,
C.W. Post).
Amanda Deck of No. 1 nationally ranked The College of St. Rose,
took home the East Region Player of the Year honor.
A total of 12 institutions are represented on the 2010 Daktronics,
Inc. East Region Women’s Soccer First or Second Teams. The
College of St. Rose tops the list with six selections, followed by
C.W. Post with five selections. Franklin Pierce University and the
University of Bridgeport have three selections each.
