West Babylon, N.Y. – Five top award winners headlined the East Coast Conference Women's Lacrosse All-Conference honors that were announced on Friday afternoon. Molloy’s Megan Rugolo (Oceanside, N.Y.) was named the Attacker of the Year, while teammate Amanda Weber (Massapequa, N.Y.) won Midfielder of the Year for the second straight season. Mercy’s Lindsey Shimborske (Farmingdale, N.Y.) takes the Defender of the Year award and D’Youville teammates, Brinn Stworzydlak (Hamburg, N.Y.) and Sam Newlin (Austin, Texas), were picked as the Goalkeeper of the Year and Rookie of the Year.

Rugolo is the ECC Attacker of the Year after leading the ECC with 85 points. She accumulated her point total on 51 goals and 34 assists, both ranked third in the conference. Overall, her total of 5.31 points per game ranked 11th in all of Division II.   

Weber repeats as the Midfielder of the Year and earns a top honor for the third straight season, after being named the Rookie of the Year in 2021. Weber ranked seventh in the ECC with 41 goals. She added 76 draw controls on the year, good for third in the loop.

Shimborske also picks up a top honor for the second straight season, this time as the Defender of the Year after a Rookie of the Year campaign in 2022. She claims the honor after leading the ECC with both 48 caused turnovers and 44 ground balls. She added 72 draw controls for good measure, which ranked fourth in the league.

Stworzydlak takes the ECC Goalkeeper of the Year honor after topping the ECC with 173 and a .482 save percentage. The two-time ECC Defensive Player of the Week added an 11.44 goals against average on the year.

Newlin was one of the top goal scorers in the ECC in her debut season. Her total of 53 was second in the league. She added seven assists on the season to rank third in the conference with 60 points. In addition, Newlin ranked in the top 10 in the ECC with 56 draw controls.

Molloy head coach, Emily Pepe, rounds out the major awards with the ECC Coach of the Year honor. In her first season, the Lions went 12-4, including 5-1 in ECC play to claim a share of the program’s first-ever ECC Regular Season Championship.
