Mercy Earns Third Straight NCAA Championship Bid

Indianapolis – After sweeping East Coast Conference regular season and tournament championships, Mercy has earned a spot in the NCAA Division II Women’s Lacrosse Championship bracket announced on Sunday evening. The Mavericks, among 16 teams that will compete for a National Championship, earned the No. 4 seed in the East Region bracket.

Mercy (14-4) is back in the tournament for the third straight season and the fourth time in program history. Although they were selected to compete in last year’s tournament, this will be the Mavericks' first NCAA postseason action since the 2019 season. Mercy had to withdraw from the 2021 championship due to COVID-19 protocols.

The Mavericks will take on the East’s top seed and champion of the Northeast 10, Stonehill (17-2) on Friday, May 13. This will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

Should Mercy advance, awaiting in the national quarterfinals on Sunday, May 15 would be the winner of No. 2 Adelphi and No. 3 Le Moyne. The Mavericks lost to both teams on the road earlier this season.

The winner of the East Region will move on to the national semifinals, held on Friday, May 20 at Harlen C Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Missouri. The National Championship Game will follow two days later on Sunday, May 22, also in St. Charles.
