Grand Lake, Colo. - Eight student-athletes from
the East Coast Conference have been named Intercollegiate Women's
Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II All-Americans.
Four earned spots on the First Team, while four were Second Team
selections.
Three of the First Team selections came from LIU Post, led by the
three-time ECC Player of the Year, Jackie Sileo. Sileo, who leads
the ECC with 141 points, became the NCAA's all-division all-time
leading scorer earlier this season. This is her third straight
First Team All-America honor and fourth overall.
The other Pioneers that join Sileo on the First Team are Katie
Rotan and Melissa Rohr. Rotan is currently the Pioneers' fourth
leading scorer with 55 points on 43 goals and 12 assists. She also
paces her squad with 44 ground balls, a number than ranks third in
the ECC.
Rohr earns a First Team nod after being named the ECC Co-Defensive
Player of the Year. On the year, she has caused eight turnovers and
is second on LIU Post with 35 ground balls.
Wrapping up the conference representation on the First Team is
Jackie Andersen of Dowling College. Andersen is the top goal scorer
in the ECC this season, finishing with 65. She also ranked second
in the league in both assists (49) and points (114). Andersen was
also the Most Outstanding Player of the first-ever ECC Women's
Lacrosse Championship, leading Dowling to the title with 17 points
over two games.
The ECC standouts on the Second Team also came from LIU Post and
Dowling. ECC Goalkeeper of the Year, Katie Hannan, and Samantha
Losco of LIU Post, along with Emma Ferreira and Samantha Stavish of
Dowling, all earned Second Team honors.
The IWLCA will honor the National All-Americans at the IWLCA
All-American banquet on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at the Radisson
Hotel Valley Forge in King Prussia, Pa.
