LIU Post's Sileo Wins Third Straight Player of the Year Honor

Central Islip, N.Y. - For the third straight season, senior attacker Jackie Sileo (Wantagh, N.Y.) from LIU Post has been named the East Coast Conference Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Year.  Sileo was joined by teammates, Katie Hannan (Gansevoort, N.Y.) as Goalkeeper of the Year and Melissa Rohr (Bethpage, N.Y.) as Co-Defensive Player of the Year. Rounding out the major awards is Dowling senior Samantha Stavish (Albertson, N.Y.), who earns a share of the Defensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, and Robert Wesleyan freshman Cassley Jackowski (Lafayette, N.Y.) as the Rookie of the Year.

Sileo wrapped up one of the most decorated all-time women's lacrosse careers in NCAA all-division history with another superb season in 2014. In 16 games on the season, Sileo has posted a total of 127 points on 47 goals and 80 assists.  Her point, assist, and assists per game (5.0) totals all currently lead Division II.  She also continued to stamp her name in the NCAA record books this season. After becoming Division II's all-time leading scorer as a junior, Sileo became the NCAA's all-time all-division leading scorer with an eight point performance in a win over Dowling on April 2.

Rohr wins a piece of the conference's top defensive award after anchoring the second best scoring defense (5.44 goals allowed per game) in Division II. The senior defender is second on the Pioneers with 27 ground balls and caused four turnovers on the season.

Stavish, a senior midfielder for the Golden Lions, shares the Defensive Player of the Year award after winning it outright last season. She was the driving force behind a Dowling defense that ranked third in the conference and ranked 19th  in the nation in allowing only 8.65 goals per game. Stavish ranked sixth in the conference with 36 ground balls and finished fifth in the ECC with 19 caused turnovers, as well.

Hannan takes home the Goalkeeper of the Year in her first and only season starting for the Pioneers after posting a perfect 16-0 record between the pipes. Hannan leads the conference in goals against average (5.37), goals against (73), and save percentage (.549) after tallying 89 saves on the season. Her save percentage is also the top mark in Division II, while her goals against average ranks third.

Jackowski is the second straight Roberts Wesleyan Redhawk to win the Rookie of the Year honor. She was the most prolific goal scorer in the ECC this season, tallying 62 goals in 17 games. She added 20 assists on the year to finish fourth in the conference with 82 points.

LIU Post's Meghan McNamara has been voted the Coach of the Year for the third consecutive year by her peers. Under McNamara’s guidance, the Pioneers finished with an unblemished 16-0 record and spent every week but one ranked as the top team in Division II in the IWLCA poll. The two-time defending National Champions also won the ECC Regular Season Championship to earn the top seed in the upcoming ECC Women's Lacrosse Championship.
