Wantagh, N.Y. - On Sunday, the Molloy College
women’s lacrosse team dedicated its morning to a great cause,
as it partook in the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against
Breast Cancer Walk at Jones Beach in Wantagh, N.Y.
The event, which was created in 1984, has inspired over eight
million people to walk, and raised more than $460 million in the
fight against breast cancer. The disease is the second-leading
cancer found in women in the United States, and results in the
second-most cancer deaths amongst women as well. As a result of the
Making Strides events, more than four million women have been
afforded potentially life-saving screening tests.
“It was a very good cause for our team to participate
in,” added senior Christie Roell (Seaford, N.Y.). “A
lot of our team members have family that has been touched by breast
cancer. We had a great turnout."
This is the seventh-consecutive year that the Lions have walked at
this event.
