Central Islip, N.Y. - Senior midfielder Kim Williams from C.W. Post has been named the 2010 East Coast Conference Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Year. Fellow Pioneer Dominique Mosca has been selected Goalkeeper of the Year in her freshman campaign. Abigail Ross (C.W. Post) and Sarah Boucher (Queens) share Rookie of the Year honors.
Williams has been a staple on the Pioneer line-up this season. She leads her team with 53 ground balls and 47 caused turnovers while ranking second in draw controls (42). Offensively, she has tallied 28 points on the season, connecting for 22 goals and adding six helpers. Williams is ranked second in the nation and leads the conference with 3.13 caused turnovers per game and also tops the conference charts in ground balls per game (3.52).
Mosca stepped up to the challenge of starting goalkeeper in her first year donning the green and gold. She posted a 10-1 record defending the goal for the Pioneers while compiling a 7.32 goals against average to rank third in Division II. Mosca made 75 stops on the season, including three games with double digit saves, to tally a .497 save percentage.
Ross made an immediate impact on the Pioneers front line. She notched 27 points on the season off 18 goals and nine assists while adding 15 ground balls and 13 draw controls to her stat line.
Boucher helped anchor the Knights offense in their inaugural season. She finished with 35 goals and five helpers to amass 40 points on the year while winning 27 draw controls and scooping up 25 ground balls.
In her third year at the helm of the C.W. Post program, Meghan McNamara has been voted the 2010 Coach of the Year by her peers. McNamara guided her squad to a 16-1 overall mark and a No. 1 national ranking this season. The Pioneers have received their fifth consecutive NCAA bid this season and, as the top seed in the North Region, will receive a first round bye.
