Central Islip, N.Y. - Senior midfielder Rachel Ray (Adelphi) has been tabbed the 2009 East Coast Conference Player of the Year as voted upon by the leagues' coaches. Fellow teammates Caitlin Fitzpatrick and Erica Devito have been named Goalkeeper of the Year and Rookie of the Year respectively.
Ray has been the driving force behind the Panthers' offensive this season. She leads the nation in assists (66) and assists per game (3.882) for the second year in a row and tops the Panther charts with 91 total points and 40 ground balls. Ray is 7-for-11 on free position shots and has won 17 draw controls so far this season.
Fitzpatrick has compiled a 15-0 record between the pipes this season. The junior has garnered ECC weekly honors nine times and leads the nation in both goals-against average (4.64) and save percentage (.655).
In her first year in donning the Panther uniform, Devito has established her spot on the attack line. The eight-time ECC Rookie of the Week leads the Panthers with 77 goals, including 6 up tallies, and ranks ninth in the country in goals per game (3.81). Additionally, she has won 23 draw controls and has scooped up 23 ground balls.
Head coach Joe Spallina of Adelphi and Dowling head coach Keri McCabe share this year's Coach of the Year award. Spallina has guided the Panthers to a 16-0 record to capture the ECC title for the second straight year. The No. 1 nationally-ranked Panthers have earned a trip to the NCAA Final Four for the fifth time in six years. McCabe led her two year old program to a third place finish in the conference with a 2-2 record and a 9-4 overall mark. The Golden Lions notched wins against several nationally-ranked teams including No. 4 Limestone and No. 9 Stonehill.

Post), Emily Simpson (Sr., DEF, Adelphi) Kelly LaClair (Sr., DEF, Molloy) and Caitlyn Fitzpatrick (Jr., GK, Adelphi).
