Mercyhurst Wins First-Ever ECC Women's Bowling Championship

Coram, N.Y. - Mercyhurst swept Molloy in the final of the East Coast Conference Women's Bowling Championship to claim their first-ever league title. With the win, the Lakers earn the conference's bid into the NCAA Championship. 

After Molloy began the morning by defeating Kutztown to advance to the final, the Lions and Lakers squared off in a best-of-three megamatch format to determine the ECC Champion. First up was a team traditional format with all five bowlers rolling a full 10 frames. Mercyhurst took a 1-0 lead with a 1044-971 victory.

Each of Mercyhurst's five bowlers finished with a score of at least 190, while Jenna Stretch led the way with a 256 and Samantha Schurr added 205. Hannah Sckalacki led the way for Molloy, also with a 205. 

Next up was Baker total pinfall. The Lakers outscored the Lions in each of the five rounds and finished with a 1052-899 victory to clinch the ECC title. 

With the win, Mercyhurst moves to 83-38 on the season while Molloy wraps up at 60-54. 

The Lakers now await the NCAA Selection Show on Wednesday, March 29 to find out their opponent and competition site in the upcoming NCAA Championship.
