Indianapolis - Dante Brown, St. Jacob Diodonet, and Rickssen Opont, all of the St. Thomas Aquinas men's track & field team, have been selected to compete in the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championship. The meet will take place from May 23-25 at Javelina Stadium on the campus of Texas A&M-Kingsville in Kingsville, Texas.
Diodonet will compete in the 400m dash. This is the second time in his illustrious career that he has qualified for the outdoor championship and sixth time overall (four NCAA indoor championships). Diodonet enters the meet as the No. 15 seed with a time of 46.96. Diodonet hit that qualifying time just last week at the Mount Olive First Chance meet.
Brown and Opont head to the National Championship for the first time in their careers. Brown qualified in the long jump with a leap of 7.45m at the St. John's Tom Farrell Classic on May 11. His distance earned him the No. 19 seed.
Opont will compete in the shot put. He comes in seeded No. 17 with a distance of 17.67m. Opont hit the mark back in March at the University of Miami Invitational.
