Indianapolis - Roberts Wesleyan Track & Field standouts, Chelsea Hayward and Malcolm Shaw, have been selected to compete in the NCAA Division II Championships.
Hayward earned a spot in the 200 meter dash, an event she won in record time at the ECC Championship. She is seeded 18th out of the 21 selected participants after posting a time of 24.14 in the event at the National Christian College Athletic Asssociation (NCCAA) Championship. This is the second NCAA Championship selection of her career, after also competing in the 200 meter dash at this year's NCAA Indoor Championship.
Shaw has been selected to compete in the javelin throw. Like Hayward, he also won the event at the ECC Championship with a record toss of 55.82 meters. He qualified for the event with a best toss of 63.59 meters at the Geneseo Early Mid-Week event. He comes in to the event seeded 10th out of 19 competitors.
The NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championship will take place from Thursday, May 26 through Saturday, May 28 at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Hayward will run in the preliminaries on Friday, May 27 and Shaw on Saturday, May 28.
