Seven Named to NFCA All-Region Squad

Louisvlle, Ky. - Seven softball student-athletes from the East Coast Conference earned a spot on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-East Region Team.

Leading the way were First Team selections Jackie Couillard of Mercy and Monique Roberge of Queens. Couillard was an ECC First Team pick at catcher after finishing third in the conference with a .411 batting average. She compiled 14 doubles, five home runs, and 31 RBI on the season. Behind the plate, Couillard also threw out nine runners attempting to steal.

Roberge helped lead the Queens Knights to ECC regular season and tournament championships. At the plate she finished fifth in the conference with a .395 batting average and led the loop with 15 home runs and 58 RBI. She was also outstanding in the circle, finishing with a 15-5 record and a 2.47 earned run average. In addition, she led the conference with 172 strikeouts in 116.1 innings pitched.

Five more student-athletes from the ECC earned a spot on the Second Team including ECC Player of the Year, Tracey Balinskas of Molloy. The others to earn Second Team honors are Arianna La Puma of Dowling and Kat Zabielski, Tori Duquette, and Chelsea Gourdin of NYIT.
