Newark, Del. – Eight softball student-athletes from the East Coast Conference have been recognized for their outstanding seasons by being named to the Daktronics/Division II Conference Commissioners Association (CCA) All-East Region team.
ECC Player of the Year, Tracey Balinskas from Molloy, ECC Pitcher of the Year, Ashley Martin from LIU Post, and Tori Duquette from NYIT were the First Team selections from the ECC. Balinskas earned her third straight All-Conference nod and Player of the Year honors after hitting .416 with 12 homeruns and 39 RBI. Jansen helped LIU Post to the final of both the ECC Championship and NCAA East II Regional by posting an ECC-high 18 wins to go along with a 1.61 earned run average and 120 strikeouts. Duquette finished the season ranked fourth in the ECC with a .407 batting average and led the league with 70 hits and six triples.
Second Team selections include Jackie Couillard (C, Mercy), Kat Zabielski (1B, NYIT), Arianna La Puma (3B, Dowling), Chelsea Gourdin (OF, NYIT), and Paige Swantek (DP, LIU Post).
The First Team honorees are automatically nominated for the Daktronics All-American voting process. The 2015 Daktronics Softball All-American Teams will be announced on Wednesday, May 20.
