ECC Pitcher of the Year, Megan Butterworth from Molloy College,
has been named a Second Team All-American by Daktronics and also
the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
A senior lefthander, Butterworth capped off her stellar career with
an outstanding season in the circle for the Lions. In 36
appearances and 30 starts, Butterworth has put together a record of
28-5 with a 1.12 earned run average in 212.1 innings pitched. She
has also struck out 270 batters, held opposing hitters to a .186
batting average against, and tossed 13 shutouts.
Butterworth currently ranks in the top five in all of Division II
in wins, earned run average, and shutouts and is also in the
national rankings in strikeouts per seven innings (13th –
8.9), strikeouts (12th), and hits allowed per seven innings (20th
– 4.73).
ECC Co-Player of the Year, Liz Weber of LIU Post, was the only
other ECC student-athlete on either team, earning an Honorable
Mention spot on the Daktronics team. Weber was a standout in the
circle and at the plate for the Pioneers. She hit .401 with 10
homeruns and compiled a 24-7 record with a 2.02 earned run
average.
