Louisville, Ky. – Molloy’s dynamic
pitching duo of Megan Butterworth and Kelley Jansen were both named
to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-East Region First
Team. Five other East Coast Conference standouts earned Second Team
All-Region status.
Butterworth was named the ECC Pitcher of the Year after leading the
conference in wins and earned run average during the regular
season. After successful trips through the ECC tournament and the
NCAA East Regional, Butterworth currently boasts a 26-5 record to
go along with a 1.11 ERA and 244 strikeouts in 195.1 innings
pitched. Her earned run average is good for seventh in all of
Division II.
Jansen’s numbers aren’t far behind her teammates. In 34
appearances and 32 starts on the season, Jansen has posted a 22-7
mark in the circle. She has also set down 317 batters on strikes
and has a 1.74 ERA in 204.2 innings. Her strikeout and strikeouts
per seven innings totals both rank fifth in the nation.
Other All-Region picks include Alyson Dzierzynski (So., C, LIU
Post), Alexis Gonzalez (Jr., OF, LIU Post), Jeana Frey (Sr., OF,
Molloy) and the ECC Co-Players of the Year, Liz Weber (Jr., P, LIU
Post) and Stephanie Tarango (Sr., SS, Dowling).
All of the All-Region nominees are now eligible for All-American
consideration. The NFCA All-America squads will be announced
sometime this week.
