Louisville, Ky. – The two-time defending East Coast Conference softball champion, Molloy College Lions, were ranked as the No. 23 team in the nation in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Top 25 preseason poll.
Last season, the Lions finished with a program record 47 wins and advanced to the final game of the NCAA East Super Regional, falling one win short of reaching the Division II World Series for the second time in three seasons. Molloy, who finished ranked No. 24 in the nation, also won their second straight ECC title, sweeping four straight games in tournament play.
This season, the Lions return 10 players from the 2012 squad including reigning ECC Pitcher of the Year, Kelley Jansen.
Molloy opens their 2013 campaign on February 15 in Tucson, Arizona when they face West Texas A&M and Dixie State in a doubleheader.
