Brookville, N.Y. – Eleven softball student-athletes from the East Coast Conference have been recognized for their outstanding seasons by being named to the Daktronics All-East Region team.
ECC Player of the Year, Nicole Hagenah from C.W. Post, and ECC Pitcher of the Year, Kelley Jansen from Molloy, were among five First Team selections from the ECC. After being named the Rookie of the Year in 2011, Hagenah didn’t experience a sophomore slump, hitting .371 with 11 homeruns and 48 RBI. Jansen helped Molloy move on to the NCAA Super Regional this weekend after leading the Lions to both the ECC regular season and tournament championships with a phenomenal season in the circle. She currently boasts a 24-8 record to go along with an 1.51 earned run average and an eye popping 304 strikeouts.
Joining Hagenah and Jansen on the First Team are Jessie Stavola
(Sr., P, Dowling), Carla Campagna (Sr., 1B, Molloy), and Jeana Frey
(Jr., OF, Molloy).
Second Team selections include Megan Butterworth (Jr., P, Molloy),
Emily Slack (Sr., C, Dowling), Nicolette Sinagra (So., SS, Molloy),
Catherine Havens (Fr., OF, C.W. Post), Liz Weber (So., UTL, C.W.
Post), and Stephanie Tarango (Jr., DP, Dowling).
All First Team selections will appear on the Daktronics Softball
Allâ€America ballot, which will be available for
voting May 7.
