ECC Men's Tennis Championship Set to Begin on Friday

West Babylon, N.Y. - The East Coast Conference Men's Tennis Championship is set to get underway Friday morning. Queens, St. Thomas Aquinas, NYIT, and Roberts Wesleyan will vie for the ECC title and automatic bid into the NCAA Division II Championship. Queens College will serve as the tournament's host at the Queens College Tennis Center.

The first serve of the tournament will be at 11 a.m. on Friday when No. 1 Queens and No. 4 Roberts Wesleyan square off in the first semifinal. The Knights, who won their second ECC Regular Season title in three seasons with an unblemished 5-0 conference record, are attempting to three-peat as league champions.

Roberts Wesleyan is back in the bracket for the first time since 2015. The Redhawks finished with a 2-3 mark in ECC play to clinch the No. 4 seed.

Queens swept the regular season matchup between the two schools, winning 7-0 on April 13.

The other semifinal will see No. 2 St. Thomas Aquinas take on No. 3 NYIT. St. Thomas Aquinas is making their sixth championship appearance in seven years. The Spartans, who earned their highest ever seed in the conference tournament after compiling a 4-1 ECC mark, are in search of their first-ever ECC title.

NYIT looks to make a seventh straight appearance in the conference tournament final. The Bears earned the No. 3 seed after a 3-2 record during the regular season.

St. Thomas Aquinas beat the Bears for the first time since 2011 in the regular season meeting between the two schools. The Spartans won by a tally of 5-2.

The winners of the semifinals will advance to the championship match on Saturday at 12 noon.
