Central Islip, N.Y. – Sophomore Tomas Gajdusek (Prague, Czech Republic) from the University of the District of Columbia has been tabbed the 2010 East Coast Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Year, as voted on by the league’s coaches. St. Thomas Aquinas freshman Nicolas Jacques (Braine I’Alleud, Belgium) was selected Rookie of the Year.
Gajdusek has compiled a perfect 11-0 record at the No. 1 singles spot including a 2-0 mark against conference opponents. He teamed up with fellow All-Conference recipient Mahmut Demirkol in No. 1 doubles to finish the regular season with a 6-6 record.
Jacques has had an impressive rookie campaign. He boasts an 11-3 record in top flight singles play with his only losses against Gajdusek and First Teamer Patryk Polus (Queens).
Knights’ head coach, Craig Schwartz has been selected the coach of the year by his peers. Schwartz guided his squad to a 15-2 overall record this season, including a 5-0 mark against conference opponents and clinched the ECC regular season title.
