Mercy's Wood Named USILA Offensive Player of the Week

Perry, N.Y. - Jesse Wood from Mercy College has been named the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division II Offensive Player of the Week.

Wood exploded for a 14-point (seven goals, seven assists) week over the course of two games for the Mavericks. The senior started off the week with a hat trick and an assist on five shots at Chestnut Hill on Tuesday to become the program’s all-time leader in goals. With the Mavericks looking to bounce back from an early week loss, Wood stepped up with four goals and six assists for a game-high 10 points as Mercy defeated Roberts Wesleyan 17-8 on Saturday.

This marks the third straight week a student-athlete from the ECC has won this award. Wood joins NYIT's Luke Miller and LIU Post's Matty Beccaris as recipients of the award.
