Philadelphia, Pa. - On October 13th, 2010 Shane
Franzone was a typical college freshman who had just finished his
fall lacrosse season at Chestnut Hill College by scoring his first
collegiate goal. On October 15th, Shane was admitted to The
Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia after doctors examined
bruises on his torso that were failing to heal. After a vast
array of tests he was diagnosed with aplastic anemia, a blood
disease where bone marrow fails to produce adequate counts of red
blood cells, white blood cells and platelets.
Shane has been hospitalized for the majority of the past 12 months
and is still fighting for his life. In an effort to help
support the Franzone family as they deal with Shane’s
continued illness, the Chestnut Hill College Men’s Lacrosse
team is organizing a wall ball event to raise funds for
Franzone. Appropriately titled “Balls to the
Wall,” the team hopes to raise as much money as possible to
assist with the mounting medical costs.
On December 10th 2011 the event will be held at Plymouth-Whitemarsh
High School from 10am to 3pm. Sponsors include the HEADstrong
Foundation, Maverick Lacrosse and Baggataway LC.
If you are interested in attending the event or donating to the
