Spartans Headed to Eighth Straight NCAA Championship

Indianapolis – For the eighth straight season, St. Thomas Aquinas will represent the East Coast Conference in the 64-team NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Championship bracket which was unveiled late Sunday evening.

The Spartans clinched the conference’s automatic berth yesterday afternoon by topping Daemen to win their fourth straight ECC Championship. With a record of 26-4, STAC earned the No. 6 seed in the East Region bracket.  

The Spartans will open tournament play against No. 3 Southern New Hampshire from the Northeast 10. This will be the third all-time meeting between the two programs and the first since 2017. Each side has one win, with STAC taking the last meeting.

The other matchups in the East Region bracket will feature NE10 Champion and regional host, No. 1 Saint Anselm taking on Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Champion No. 8 Caldwell, No. 2 Bentley facing No. 7 Dominican, and No. 4 New Haven squaring off against No. 5 Pace.  

The Spartans went 0-2 vs. their fellow regional participants during the regular season, dropping contests to Saint Anselm and Pace.

The tournament, which will take place at the Stoutenburgh Gymnasium

on the campus of Saint Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire, gets underway on Saturday, March 11. The semifinals take place the following day, Sunday, March 12, and after a day off, the championship game will be on Tuesday, March 14.
