West Babylon, N.Y. - On Thursday afternoon, the East Coast Conference announced that the semifinals and finals of 2019 Men's and Women's Basketball Championships will now be held at the University of Bridgeport. There is no change to the dates of the tournament. The first round will take place on campus sites on March 6, followed by the semifinals and finals at Bridgeport on March 9 and 10.
The league's basketball tournaments had originally been awarded to Queens College but unexpected delays in construction projects to Queens' Fitzgerald Gymnasium necessitated a shift to a different venue.
The move to the Park City means the ECC Basketball Championships are back in a familiar home. Bridgeport's Harvey Hubbell Gymnasium will serve as the tournament's site for the fourth time after also hosting the 2007, 2011, and 2017 tournaments. Bridgeport also hosted the final of the ECC Men's Basketball Championship in 2013 and 2014 when the tournament was formatted with the highest-remaining seed hosting the final.
