Staten Island, N.Y. - University of the District of Columbia sophomores Temera Duncan (St. Andrew, Jamaica) and Molloy junior Brian Michels (Patchogue, N.Y.) were honored as the recipients of the East Coast Conference Elite 18 Award in the sports of men's and women's indoor track & field at Friday's ECC Indoor Track & Field Championships awards ceremony. The ECC Elite 18 honor is awarded to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade point average competing in each of the ECC's 18 championships.
Duncan is an accounting major with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Duncan helped the Firebirds to a victory in the 4x400m relay on Friday evening and also posted a fifth place finish in the 400m dash.
Michels, also an accounting major who carries a 3.975 GPA, won the mile run at the ECC Championship, while also finishing fourth in the 800m run.
