Queens Awarded No. 6 Seed in NCAA East Regional

Indianapolis – For the second time in program history and the first time since 1998, Queens College will play in the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship. The Knights are one of 56 teams in regional brackets announced Sunday evening that will have a chance to win a National Championship.

Queens earned the East Coast Conference’s automatic bid after winning their first conference tournament since the aforementioned 1998 season. The Knights were awarded the No. 6 seed in East Region 2 bracket that will be hosted by No. 2 Goldey-Beacom (34-18).

No. 3 LeMoyne (31-19) and No. 7 Felician (25-30) also join the Knights in the double-elimination bracket. Le Moyne will be Queens’ opening game opponent. The two schools have only met once before, with the Dolphins earning a 14-0 victory in February 2018.

The other East Regional includes No. 1 Southern New Hampshire (37-11) hosting No. 4 Franklin Pierce (34-17), and No. 5 Pace (33-19).

The Knights have played seven games with a 4-3 record against fellow East Region participants this season. They split a four-game series with Goldey-Beacom, swept two games from Felician, and lost in their season opener to Southern New Hampshire.

Regional play begins on Thursday, May 18, and will wrap up by Sunday, May 21 at the latest. The winner of each double-elimination regional will advance to the best-of-three East Super Regional that will be hosted by the highest remaining seed from May 26-27.

The Super Regional Champion will earn the right to compete for a National Championship at the NCAA Division II World Series which will take place at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina from June 3-10.
