Bracket Set for ECC Baseball Championship

Bracket Set for ECC Baseball Championship

West Babylon, N.Y. – For the third straight year, the same four teams have qualified for the East Coast Conference Baseball Championship.

Molloy, St. Thomas Aquinas, Queens, and Mercy, will all compete for an ECC title and an automatic bid into the NCAA Championship. Mitchel Field in Uniondale, N.Y., the home field of Molloy, will play host to the tournament that will run from Thursday, May 11 through Saturday, May 13.

For the second year in a row, Molloy (33-15, 19-5 ECC) will be the top seed after claiming the ECC regular season title. The Lions, who have also won the last two ECC Championships, will start their quest to threepeat against No. 4 Mercy (15-31, 10-14 ECC).

The Mavericks are in search of their first-ever ECC title and look to earn their first postseason win since the 2010 season.

Molloy swept the series between the two teams during the regular season.

St. Thomas Aquinas (23-25, 16-8 ECC), who earned the No. 2 seed, continues to be a tournament mainstay with their 14th appearance over the last 15 seasons. The Spartans have won four ECC titles in that span but are in search of their first since the 2018 season.

No. 3 Queens (29-16, 13-9 ECC) will be the Spartans’ opening opponent. The Knights hold the longest streak of consecutive ECC Championship berths after earning their fourth straight.

The Knights currently are on a 25-year drought without a conference championship, with their last coming during the 1998 season. They came close to ending the streak last season, but fell in the final of the tournament to Molloy.

The championship will begin with the Molloy vs. Mercy matchup at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday afternoon. Queens and St. Thomas Aquinas will follow at 3:00 p.m.

All games during the championship will be broadcast live on the ECC Network website and the ECC Network app on Apple and Android mobile devices and also on Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV, and Roku OTT streaming devices. To read Twitter updates throughout the tournament, follow @ECCSports.
