Hogan, Mack, and Giblin Claim ECC Baseball All-Conference Top Honors

West Babylon, N.Y. – The East Coast Conference announced its Baseball All-Conference awards on Thursday morning. Molloy's Sean Hogan (East Meadow, N.Y.) was named the league's Player of the Year, while Alex Mack (Cornwall, N.Y.) of St. Thomas Aquinas took home Pitcher of the Year accolades. The top honors are rounded out with Mercy's Nolan Giblin (Syracuse, N.Y.) earning the Rookie of the Year honor and Molloy head coach Joe Fucarino being selected by his peers as the conference's Coach of the Year.

Hogan followed through on his selection as the ECC Preseason Player of the Year by claiming the postseason award, as well. The graduate student was the top hitter in the ECC during the regular season, leading the league with a .402 batting average. Hogan also topped the ECC with 41 hits and ranked among the top-10 in the loop with eight doubles, three triples, 30 runs batted in, 55 total bases, a .480 on-base percentage, and a .539 slugging percentage. In addition, Hogan constantly puts pressure on opposing defenses by ranking as the toughest player to strike out in all of Division II. He's gone down on strikes just three times in 102 at-bats, good for a ratio of one every 34 at-bats.

Mack was selected as the Pitcher of the Year after winning the league's pitching triple crown, pacing the ECC with six wins, 62 strikeouts, and a 1.31 earned run average. His numbers were even better in conference play where he finished 5-0 with a 0.76 ERA. Additionally, Mack allowed just 30 hits and five walks over 48.0 total innings to rank third in Division II with a WHIP (walks/hits per inning pitched) of 0.73. He also ranks in the top-10 in Division II with his ERA (5th), strikeout-to-walk ratio (5th - 12.4), and walks allowed per nine innings (9th - 0.94) totals.

Giblin earns the Rookie of the Year in his sophomore season after the conference expanded eligibility to student-athletes who would have been rookies during the shortened 2020 season. Giblin helped the Mavericks earn their first postseason berth since 2010 by hitting .360 in 29 games. He ranks in the top-five in the league with 40 hits (3rd), 35 runs scored (2nd), and 13 stolen bases (5th). Giblin also made just two errors in 90 chances while manning the hot corner for the Mavericks.

Fucarino earns the Coach of the Year honor for the fourth time in his career after leading the Lions to a 19-9 record and the No. 2 seed in the upcoming ECC Championship. He also has Molloy in contention for the second NCAA Championship berth in program history, as the Lions were listed as a team under consideration in the most recent NCAA East Region ranking.
