Kostalos Earns Consensus All-America Status; Navetta Wins Gold Glove

Matt Kostalos of St. Thomas Aquinas College has earned All America consenus status after being named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings  and Division II Conference Commissioners Association (DIICCA) All-America teams. In addition, Molloy's Angelo Navetta has been selected as a recipient of an ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove.

Kostalos, the ECC Pitcher of the Year, wraps up his long list of awards by earning a spot on the ABCA/Rawlings Second Team and DIICCA Third Team.  He wrapped up his outstanding career with the Spartans by compiling an 8-0 record and a 1.46 earned run average over 14 appearances and 98.2 innings. Kostalos also led the ECC with 108 strikeouts and his win total and ERA led the conference, as well. In addition, his ERA (4th), strikeout total (10th) and walks and hits per innings pitched (WHIP) total of 0.94 (10th) finished in the top 10 in all of Division II.

Navetta, the ECC Player of the Year, was a standout both with his bat and glove for Molloy in 2016. His work with the glove led to him being one of nine recipients nationally of the ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove. Navetta, a first baseman, did not make a single error in 523 total chances for a 1.000 fielding percentage on the year.  He totaled 497 putouts, 26 assists, and was a part of an ECC leading 34 double plays.

Navetta becomes the second ever Gold Glove recipient from the ECC. Molloy shortstop Kris Kelly received the award in 2013.
