STAC Baseball Teams Up with Hope Worldwide on MLK Day

Sparkill, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Baseball Team took time on Monday to honor the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday and his legacy by taking part in a day of service. The Spartans teamed up with Hope Worldwide to collect, pack and deliver various food, clothing and toiletry items for the homeless in the metropolitan area. The Romano Student Center served as the perfect venue for today's events, as approximately 100 volunteers spent four hours plus putting together supplies for those who are most in need.

Hope Worldwide is an international charity, based out of Pennsylvania, that changes lives by harnessing the compassion and commitment of dedicated staff and volunteers to deliver sustainable, high-impact, community-based services to the poor and needy. Their vision is to bring hope and change to the lives of the world's most poor, sick and suffering.

A documentary on the life and work of Dr. King was shown to all of the volunteers and guest speakers reminded the group of how important community service is to keeping the legacy and dream of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. alive, even 47 years following his passing.
