Eight ECC baseball standouts have earned a spot on the Daktronics/DII CCA and American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-Region teams.
The Daktronics All-Region Team features eight from the ECC, including First Team selections John Ascenzia of Bridgeport and Jake DeCarli of LIU Post. Ascenzia was an ECC First Team pick at shortstop after becoming the Purple Knights' all-time hits leader. He finished his final season with a .314 batting average with 48 hits and 27 runs batted in.
DeCarli was the ECC Pitcher of the Year after compiling a 6-1 record with 60 strikeouts in 70.1 innings. His earned run average was also a miniscule 0.76, which led the conference and ranks fourth in all of Division II.
Joining Ascenzia and DeCarli as Daktronics honorees are ECC Player of the Year, Stanley Susana, ECC Rookie of the Year, Giovanni Dingcong, and Joseph Pena, all of St. Thomas Aquinas, as well as Rob Anderson and Tim Bickford of Bridgeport, and Bryan Greig of Mercy.
DeCarli, Pena, Susana, and Dingcong were also honored as ABCA All-Region recipients. All four earned a spot on the Second Team.
