Dowling College senior and ECC Pitcher of the Year, Tyler
Badamo, has earned consensus All-American honors with his selection
to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), Daktronics,
and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) teams.
Badamo earned First Team status on the ABCA and Daktronics lists
and was a Second Team selection by the NCBWA.
Badamo finished the season with a 9-3 record in 15 appearances and
13 starts. Over 108.1 innings pitched, he compiled a 0.83 earned
run average, struck out 129 hitters, and allowed only 75 hits, five
of which went for extra bases. His ERA was second in all of
Division II, while his strikeout total tied for first in the
nation. He also tossed five complete games and two shutouts and had
a streak of 72.2 innings without allowing an earned run.
St. Thomas Aquinas' Rich Baerga was the only other ECC
student-athlete listed on any of the three teams. Baerga, who led
the ECC with a .368 batting average and 85 hits, earned a spot on
the NCBWA Honorable Mention list for the second straight year.
