Badamo Earns NCBWA East Region Pitcher of the Week for Second Time This Season

Bridgeport, Conn. - Senior right-hander Tyler Badamo (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.) of Dowling College, has been selected as this week’s East Region National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Pitcher of the Week for games played from April 7-13, 2014.

Badamo, the East Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week, improved to 5-1 on the season with his fourth consecutive complete game in a 4-1 victory over Queens. He scattered six hits, did not allow an earned run, and struck out a season high 17 batters. The right-hander has not allowed an earned run in 52.2 consecutive innings and continues to lead the ECC with a 0.54 ERA and 86 strikeouts.  This is Tyler’s second weekly NCBWA East Region Pitcher of the Week Award during the 2014 season.

In other NCBWA related news, both Dowling and St. Thomas Aquinas maintain spots in the latest NCBWA East Region poll.

After posting a 5-0 record last week, Dowling maintains their spot at No. 4 in the poll. The Golden Lions' record now stands at 22-8 on the season.

St. Thomas Aquinas moved up one spot this week after posting a 4-2 record last week. The four wins moved the Spartans to the 20 win mark on the season.

LIU Post, who split a four game ECC series with St. Thomas Aquinas last week, continues to receive votes in the poll.
