Marshall, Minn. – St. Thomas Aquinas
designated hitter, Mike Russo, has been named a Daktronics Third
Team All-American. Russo is one of four players from the East
Region to be named a First, Second, or Third Teamer.
Russo, a junior from Boca Raton, Fla., took home the East Coast
Conference triple crown in 2012. His .381 batting average, six
homeruns, and 44 runs batted in all were tops in the ECC.
Russo’s teammates, Frank Salerno and Matt Marotta, were also
listed as Honorable Mention selections. Salerno was the ECC Player
of the Year, while Marotta was the ECC Pitcher of the Year.
Members of the NCAA Division II College Sports Information
Directors of America (CoSIDA) selected the All-America teams. The
All-America team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged
world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems
for virtually every sport at every level of competition. Daktronics
has sponsored the baseball All-America program since 2007.
