Mike Russo, Matt Marotta, and George Wargo of St. Thomas Aquinas
have been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association
All-East Region Team. C.W. Post catcher Anthony Corona was also
recognized as a member of the Rawlings Gold Glove East Region
Second Team.
Mike Russo, who won the East Coast Conference triple crown by
leading the league in batting average (.381), homeruns (6), and RBI
(44), was named to the First Team as a designated hitter.
Marotta, the ECC Pitcher of the Year, and Wargo, an ECC
All-Conference First Team member, were both Second Team
selections.
Corona was selected to the Gold Glove Second Team after posting an
impressive .991 fielding percentage with only three errors in 334
chances behind the plate for the Pioneers. He also tossed out 30
percent of would be base-stealers on the season.
