Indianapolis - The ECC Champion Dowling College
Golden Lions, received the No. 6 seed in the NCAA East Region
Baseball Championship and will face top-seed and host, Southern New
Hampshire.
Dowling will face the Penmen, who have set a program record with 38
wins on the season, on Thursday, May 17. Game time has yet to be
announced.
The Golden Lions, who defeated Bridgeport 7-0 in the final of the
ECC Baseball Championship for their second straight conference
title, head back to the NCAA Tournament for the eighth time in 11
seasons. After missing out on the Northeast 10 conference
tournament, Southern New Hampshire is making their first
post-season appearance of any kind since 1997.
LeMoyne from the Northeast 10, and Wilmington from the CACC, join
Dowling as squads that earned automatic bids into the tournament
field with conference championships. Southern New Hampshire,
Franklin Pierce, and St. Anselm grabbed the three at-large
berths.
Dowling has faced only one team in the East Region bracket this
season, splitting a double header with Franklin Pierce on March
4.
