The American Baseball Coaches Association has released their
All-Region Teams and four ECC student-athletes were named to the
Second Team. Carlos Guzman of Molloy College was also named the
ABCA East Region Rookie of the Year.
The Second Team members from ECC institutions included Brian
Ferguson of Dowling, Frank Salerno of St. Thomas Aquinas, and Chuck
Fontana and Robert LaRusso of Molloy College. All four were ECC
All-Conference First Team selections, while Fontana was the ECC
Pitcher of the Year and LaRusso was the Player of the Year.
Guzman earns the Region Rookie of the Year honor after holding the
same distinction in the ECC. Jamie Tremi of Wilmington shares the
award with Guzman. The left handed hitting outfielder finished
third in the ECC in hitting with a .356 batting average, while also
topping the conference in hits (67), runs (42), and stolen bases
(28).
