Bridgeport, Conn. - Eight ECC baseball student-athletes have been named to the 2011 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association All-East Region Team. ECC Pitcher of the Year, Chuck Fontana of Molloy College, was the lone representative on the First Team.
Fontana was named the ECC Pitcher of the Year after going 9-1 with a 1.69 ERA. Fontana led the ECC in innings pitched, strikeouts, and strikeouts per nine innings as well.
Second Team selections include Robert LaRusso (C, Molloy), Frank Salerno (2B, St. Thomas Aquinas), Eddie Squeri (SS, Dowling), Carlos Guzman (OF, Molloy), Peter Barrows (OF, Bridgeport), Gabriel Duran (SP, Dowling), and Matt Bartolomei (RP, Bridgeport).
