Central Islip, N.Y. - Senior pitcher Matt Matcovich from St. Thomas Aquinas College was named the 2010 ECC Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
A senior business major who holds a perfect 4.0 GPA, Matcovich compiled a 6-2 record on the mound for the Spartans this season. He struck out 42 batters in his 66.1 innings and through three complete games while compiling a 3.12 ERA.
East Coast Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year Awards are nominated by their institution and voted upon by the Faculty Athletic Representatives from each ECC institution.
