West Babylon, N.Y. - For the second straight season, the Molloy University athletic department has been awarded ECC Community Cup. The honor is presented to the institution that tallies the greatest number of community service and community engagement hours per student-athlete.
Over 3,000 hours of community service were logged by Lions teams, good for 8.33 hours per student-athlete.
Molloy student-athletes lent their time to such causes as Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, Autism Speaks, Molloy Opportunity for Successful Transition (MOST - a program for college-aged individuals with developmental disabilities), and suicide prevention, and Midnight Runs to supply meals to the homeless in New York City.
The award comes with a $500 grant from the ECC to be used towards community efforts during the 2023-24 season
